FLEXIBLE SIGMOIDOSCOPY

This is a shorter version of a colonoscopy which allows us to examine the last third of the colon. This runs along the left side of the abdomen. Full bowel preparation or laxative is rarely required. An enema, or a laxative administered via a short tube in to the rectum, is the standard preparation. It will make you go to the toilet a few minutes after being administered and allow clear views of the colon.
